What’s better: Residential vs Datacenter Proxies?
Residential and datacenter proxies both give you the power to stay anonymous. But what’s the difference between the two? We’re here to help, so you know which proxy fits best for your project.
What are datacenter proxies?
Datacenter proxies are from secondary sources that aren’t connected to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). They’re not linked to a specific location, but the datacenter instead. These IPs are often sold in bulk from cloud server providers. Because they’re used by many and are without an ISP, they can be easily flagged and detected. They’re also prone to subnet bans. Popular sites have upped their security by blocking users with datacenter IPs. But they’re helpful if you want to just hide your IP address or scrape data from an unprotected site.
Go for datacenter proxies if you need:
- Fast connection. Datacenter proxies are usually faster than residential proxies because their servers are made to handle various users.
- High volume. With multiple IPs, you’re able to harvest more data for your business or project. However, there is more risk of being blacklisted.
- Affordable price. Since datacenter proxies are easy to acquire, they’re available at lower prices than residential proxies. They’re also usually shared between users which drops the price as well.
What are residential proxies?
Residential proxies provide IP addresses from ISPs connected to real households. Your real IP address is hidden by using other residential IPs. Websites can’t tell if you’re using a proxy, making it almost impossible to block. Your activity will appear as a real consumer, which allows you to crawl freely.
Choose residential proxies if you need:
- Legitimacy. Residential IPs are considered more trustworthy since they’re usually assigned to real homeowners with a physical address. While appearing as a real resident, you don’t have to worry about being blocked, flagged, or interrupted.
- More locations. Being connected to actual locations means you can geo-target almost any country around the world and bypass most geographical blocks. Datacenter proxies on the other hand are limited to their center’s locations.
- Data from a protected site. Since residential proxies allow you to go undetected, you’re able to scrape data from sites without restrictions.
At Proxyverse, we provide residential proxies that give you the speed and reliability you need. And if you’re not sure if a residential proxy is right for you, we’re here to answer all questions, 24/7.
